GINGERBREAD HOUSE ENTRY RULES:
Entrants will choose from ONE (1) of the following categories when registering their lots:
Professional: Houses should be made from homemade gingerbread.
Ages 13 and Up: Constructed from homemade gingerbread, premade kits or graham crackers.
Ages 12 and Under: Constructed from homemade gingerbread, premade kits or graham crackers.
1. Houses in all categories must be at least 90% edible, family-friendly, and non-controversial.
2. Houses travel best on a firm board/cardboard with board measuring between 10-18 inches. Entries outside of these measurements will be placed on an exhibition table for viewing but will not qualify for judging or prizes.
3. House entry drop-off times: Friday, December 13th between 1:00 PM-6:00 PM, Vestavia Hills Civic Center (curbside drop-off)
4. Upon drop-off you will select whether you wish to donate your house, pick it up, or allow it to be disposed of. Those wishing to pick up their entries should arrive no later than 1:00 PM.
Houses will be on display to the public on Saturday, December 14 from 8:00 AM-Noon.
Winners from each of the above categories will be contacted by text and asked to return to the civic center by 11:45 AM for the announcement of winners. Prizes (including a People's Choice award selected through audience voting) will be awarded at this time. Photos of winners will be taken for publicity purposes.
